Strobe Life is Dan J and Solid State

Dan J has been spinning records since 1989 and is now resident at Hunie Presents, where he has shared decks with an A-Z of Disco Royalty - Francois Kevorkian, Dimitri from Paris, John Morales, Nicky Siano, Horse Meat Disco, Joey Negro, Mr Scruff and many more. An immaculate technician with a great dancefloor ear, Dan J has become the go-to party rocker in Sheffield, with his name on more flyers than even he can remember. To top things off, he even runs his own vinyl emporium - Low Profile Records. His latest venture is the new Strobe Life radio show for UK Mondo, alongside Solid State.

Solid State (aka Richard Hardcastle) is a regular DJ at Hope Works in Sheffield and Spiritland in London. Since 1988 he has played alongside dozens of legends like Tony Humphreys, Larry Heard, Sasha and Norman Jay and produced music with iconic dance labels like Guidance (Chicago), TOKO, Primitive and Paper Disco. From 2003-09, his Society and All Out War nights hosted Disco pioneers like Greg Wilson, Daniel Wang, Al Kent, Greg Belson, Sean P and Balearic Mike. The spin-off vinyl record labels also released Solid's acclaimed disco edits, alongside EPs for Red Rack Em, Greg Wilson and Al Kent and his latest works feature heavily on Paper Disco’s massive ‘Trash the Wax’ compilations. In July, Solid played all night long at London's audio mecca, Spiritland, for their ‘Studio 54’ Documentary After-Party, making him a natural choice for our NYE event!
