Sarah Potts

Sarah’s musical roots have been forged through the renowned Doncaster Youth Jazz Association, with whom she has recorded at Abbey Road Studios and performed at the Royal Albert Hall. With a passion for soulful lyricism, she has established herself as solo artist working with DJs such as Russell Small (Freemasons, Phats and Small), Bobby Blanco (Moto Blanco) and musicians such as Rick Astley and Lisa Millet. She’s also proud to be a part of Sheffield’s own Straight 8ths (funk big band), resident saxophonist for Funky Love (Leeds based funky vocal house event) and for Floyd in the Flesh (Pink Floyd tribute band), of which renowned saxophonist Scott Page remarked ‘[she] sounds great. I love [her] tone’).

Whilst running a record shop out of a vintage arcade on Abbeydale Road called King Biscuit Time, Alex's customers would wax lyrical about the records he would play them while they were digging. Next step in the evolutionary chain was to take the party outside. With a small but enthusiastic following, the almost mythical Tripping On Sound underground parties was born. Literally underground, as a residency at Club Sixty followed. Regular and reliable sets at Erotica Festival. A regular selector at Peddler street markets from their beginning. Playing an eclectic mix of black American music from the sixties to the present day.
